Welcome,

A home from home
– peace of mind and great quality of life

Security, kindness
and a comfortable home

We provide long-term care for 20 residents over 65 years of age, some of whom may be suffering from dementia, with all the comforts of a caring home.

Found in the village of Strensall, just outside York, our residents enjoy a light, bright and clean home, with surrounding, mature landscaped gardens.

Inside

Centrally heated throughout, cleaned daily and well ventilated, you’ll find three spacious day rooms: a television lounge and adjoining open plan dining room, together with a sitting room, including a piano, plenty of board games and jigsaws. Our sitting room opens out into an airy conservatory with views over our bird feeding station.

We have 14 single bedrooms and three companion twin rooms. All our rooms have washing facilities and some are en suite. Lifting and bathing aids also ensure our residents’ needs are met. Additional equipment may also be provided through district nurses and occupational therapists as and when needed. Our residents are encouraged to bring personal furniture and possessions to decorate their rooms.

To keep everyone safe, every bedroom has a staff call system and throughout our home we have a fully compliant fire detection and alarm system.

At meal times

Nutritious well-balanced meals are provided and choice is offered at every mealtime. Snacks and drinks are encouraged and available whenever requested, day and night. We can also cater for specialised diets and support and assist everyone who finds eating and drinking difficult, ensuring they also receive choice and variety

Outside

Our residents enjoy the use of our two well-established, mature gardens. To the front you’ll find our lawn with sunny patio and bird feeding station. To the rear you’ll find our secure sensory garden with raised flowerbeds and wide, flat pathways that also enable easy wheelchair access. You’ll also see the apple tree of our name in our sensory garden. Sourced locally from specialists R V Roger Ltd in Pickering, we chose the Belle de Boskoop variety that hails from the late 1800s. We hope the tree will give the home and kitchens cooking apples in the autumn and, stored over Christmas, superb eating apples for residents and visitors in January.

Strensall Day Care Centre for the over 50s is located within our grounds and shares our sensory garden – a great place to sit, meet and make new friends.
